Libraries and platforms for building applications where a model plans, calls tools, and works across several steps. Some are unopinionated toolkits. Others are hosted runtimes with visual builders. What separates them from the assistants category is direction of use: these are things you build with, and assistants are things you use.
Look at whether it is a library or a service, what it assumes about state and memory, how tool calling and human approval are modelled, and how much of it you would have to tear out to change model provider. Framework lock-in is the real cost. It is easy to underestimate early.
